This challenge is the result of some great discussions between Jen and Amelia following the 2021 #SciCommSeptember challenge. The aim is to create a space where people working in STEM fields can promote their work without feeling cheesey and hopefully find some great people to collaborate with.

It's awesome if you can post on the same day as the prompt, but you certainly don't have to! If you end up posting a day or a week late it's all good. But there will be more of a buzz around that topic on those days when it is the focus.

Thanks for asking! You can get involved! Tweet and post away. Follow us on the various platforms and even give us a virtual shoutout, that is always very welcome. You can listen to our podcasts, tell your friends, colleagues and family about them. If you really want to contribute financially you can contact Jen to run a workshop in SciComm for your team and you can buy Avid Research a coffee through their website!

Absolutely nothing! If you need to take a day off, need to take some time off socials, that is all ok. It'll just be great to have you participating when and how you can! Make sure you keep it sustainable.

This is a totally understandable feeling, and really it's the whole point of this challenge, to help you find things that you can participate and contribute with! If you're feeling nervous still, try starting with liking other people's posts, maybe reply to them. But we'd really recommend just giving it a go! You'll probably find you've got more to say than you thought!

Yes you can! We are totally supportive of post scheduling. Though it would be amazing if you can pop online occasionally to interact with other people's posts.

That's really up to you. You could wait, you could join in where we are up to, or you could do a little flurry of catchup posts. It's very much a choose your own adventure kind of challenge.

Of course you can. If you're doing something related to Science and STEM you are most welcome to take part.

You are welcome to take this challenge onto all and any of the platforms. We won't be as active interacting with you on the other platforms, but it would be great to see you create some buzz in different places! Bonus points for heading onto LinkedIn.

Not at all! This is a timezone and location independant event.

For you, it costs nothing! For us there is the cost of hosting the webiste ($AU 3/mo), domain registration (about $AU 20/yr) and getting the social media collateral designed. This has been done on a shoestring budget, and I think looks pretty good considering! Avid Research also schedule their posts using Later ($US 15/mo).
